Unfortunately, a common shameful deception is perpetuated by women who steal photos from other ladies and put them in their own ads. This negatively impacts all honest and reliable escorts/companions when frauds don't want to post photos of their own faces or bodies, and is called "bait and switch." Seeing the same picture under several different names is a dead giveaway. Here's something you can try: Right click on the photo in question, particularly if it's not watermarked like mine on the side here. After you click on the "save image as" (you don't actually have to save it), look at the file name and see what it says. Many ladies tag their own name to the stored photos they'll upload to their ads, and if the name doesn't agree with the one in the post, it may be stolen or some sort of scam. I personally try to store my shots under Fancy or with humorous captions, but sometimes just a photo storage sequence number appears. There's an online reverse image search engine called "TinEye" that is sometimes helpful when matching photos from various sources, but it's access to adult entertainment-type shots seems limited.
I will be Fancy as long as I'm an escort/companion, and will ALWAYS advertise under Fancyinheels, and my posts will always show my smiling face. Why shouldn't I be happy and grinning? This is what I do and I LOVE my job, and I'm not ashamed to admit it! However, some ladies do find it necessary to blur their faces to protect their personal lives, families, and careers if they are escorting as a hobby or supplemental source of income. While that choice has to be respected, it does make it more difficult for a gentleman to choose a companion for overall appearance, unless he's just focused on particular body parts. I watermark all my published photos to protect them, and recommend that all other escorts do likewise. Ladies, there are many free programs that can be downloaded off the Net, like "Visual Watermark," that will walk you through the process.
Some women on Backpage with little imagination or with purposeful dishonesty have adopted the same names as established escorts, like myself, to capitalize on their reputations. (There are about a dozen "Fancy" ladies on here now.) BP takes no responsibility for monitoring theft of identity, so gentlemen searching for ladies whose ads they may have looked at before will often be confused and call the wrong gal. READ carefully and make sure you're getting the escort you want. Make note of phone numbers, as a lady with one name should have only one number, and that SAME number should be in every post over a consistent period of time. You'll find the BP "keyword" search box at the top left of the listings helpful when investigating names and numbers to see how they match up with other ads. Even better, do a Google search for the phone number posted in the ad. If the results show multiple ads in multiple cities with different names and pictures, the girl that answers the door probably won't be the one in the photos. Also, please be aware that some escort websites try to increase their own profits and take advantage of independent ladies here by copying their info or an old advertisement without permission, then posting Backpage ads with separate "Read My Reviews" links to lure people to MEMBERSHIP boards. Their intent is to promote their own escort search services and get gentlemen to sign up and pay a fee. Reviews, by the way, are independent "consumer reports" of other fellows' experiences with a lady and always end with a yea or nay recommendation. With a little time online, you can find such info on reputable private sites devoted to this industry without having to pay. Many girls include snippets of their reviews on their personal websites, as I do.
Some of these offenders "lift" ads without permission off Backpage just to make their sites appear more legit with a bigger variety of listings. (Massage Troll, Adult Search, Erotic Massage Parlor, F**Kbook, City X Guide, Fling, Escort Finder, and My Provider Guide are all big "borrowers," which doesn't say much for them, does it?) Third-party "psuedo-ads" may or may not include a reference to the escort's genuine individual webpage, and often have outdated or incorrect info, like rates that are less than what the escort actually charges, or services that the escort does not offer. NO SITE has my authorization to do this or use my image or ad copy, and my ads will NEVER divert anyone to anything other than my own Fancy website, and while you'll need my private password to sneak a peek at the twin peaks o' Ireland (the more risque poses), you will NEVER need to "join" to see my info, view public photos, and read all about me.
Why do some of the escort ads on here contain direct links, while others don't? The TOU, or TERMS OF USE, restrictions in many forums, including BP, often block escorts/companions from including certain website addresses in ads depending upon who's hosting the sites. Backpage, and other public advertising venues that allow adult services ads, are being pressured by government and media conservatism to totally eliminate such listings. To maintain them, BP and the other forums must try to distance their companies from any legal culpability within the erotic entertainment industry, especially the appearance of promoting specific and/or questionable services. However, often escorts just don't bother creating private websites. Why should you, as a gentleman consumer, look for one? Well, glancing over an escort/companion's website is like viewing her "infomercial," as it will showcase her physical appearance, creativity, and personality, allow gentlemen to preview the "coming attractions" and find general questions quickly answered. More importantly, perhaps, is that such webpages exemplify conscientious, dependable ladies who seriously put in the effort to be true courtesans of trust and substance, and not wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am-fly-by-nights. There are exceptions to this statement, but typically an escort/companion without a personal website is probably not planning on hanging around long, and may not take responsibility for her actions and back up her claim. Ladies should at least mention their websites in their ads so you can email and ask for the e-address, and a true professional WILL also have an email. If the ONLY way you have of reaching an escort/companion is by phone, you have to ask WHY she's limiting herself and you in contact?

Per the TOU, Backpage censors sexually graphic images, so no completely nude photos with pink-tipped bosom or totally exposed booty and beaver allowed, and no explicit words, phrases, slang abbreviations, and obvious allusions to particular acts. This forces the ladies to be creative in photography angles and writing so that snapshots and blocks of type don't go missing. If you're reading a post that seems "chopped up" or appears to need a word or two inserted for it to make sense, it's probably been scissored by the BP auto-edit system. Also, the TOU now limits new posts to only 500 characters, or about 5 sentences. (By the way, it's REALLY hard to be informative and entertaining in such a wee space. Turns out size DOES matter!) The longer posts you see, like this epic, are OLDER ads that have been constantly renewed and therefore not subject to the length restriction implemented in early 2011.
Back to how to spot a disreputable ad: Another good way is by "dating" it (no, not give it flowers and take it out to dinner); check and see if the poster lists WHEN they joined the Backpage family. For instance, all of my ads, as I said above, show that I've been on here since May of 2007. This tells you that I've established a history and will not ruin my good name with bogus shenanigans. An unknown lady who just joined BP might be a lovely new gem, but also might be a ruse or a disaster-in-the-making, so be extra careful, please. An escort who doesn't want anyone to know how long she's been in the profession under her current name might be hiding something she did under a previous moniker. The bottom of each Backpage posting will include links to every other ad a lady has run recently, so you can check to see if she is using more than one alias, or photos of an obviously different person. Also, look for ladies registered with screening services like Preferred411 and DC, as I am. That's extra assurance that they've been checked out by a respectable 3rd party organization and found to be legitimate escorts/companions.
A warning: If you see an ad with any lady OUTRIGHT stating she's selling sexual activities for money, run. Absolutely illegal to do that. (It could be a trap.) Remember, all you're EVER paying for is an escort's TIME to accompany you to a place of your choice. Never discuss intimate activities or rates over the phone or via email, and if you don't get the phone slammed on you or your message deleted for vulgarity or inappropriate questions, you really ought to be worried about who's on the other end and why they're still communicating with you. Non-specific inquiries are acceptable, but everything you really need to know should be in a companion's ad or website, and if not, you need to watch out for "upselling," where a lady tacks on extra "service" charges for anything additional to her just showing up.
One last thing: Please realize that you get what you pay for, and a cheap deal isn't always the BEST deal. Quality costs more, gentlemen.
